Waikato Real Estate cements their place as award-winning industry leader

Waikato Real Estate has taken out an impressive seven awards at this year’s Leading Property Managers Association (LPMA) Industry Awards.

Not only have they taken out company awards for Excellence in Team Culture, Industry Educator and Excellence in Service, four of the team have also been individually recognised, including Yvette McLean who won Rookie Property Manager of the year.

Yvette joined the team in April of 2021, as a career change for a busy mum of four. Yvette is recognised by teammates as incredibly hard working, humble and the ultimate team player, with a tenant and property owner NPS (Net Promoter Score) of 75% and 76% clearly demonstrating how hard Yvette has worked to manage her 130 properties. Hayden Mai was awarded the Property Manager of the Year award.

Hayden joined the Waikato Real Estate team in 2008, managing just 11 properties with an average rent of just $150/week - well times have certainly changed now as Hayden manages over 260 properties with the highest average rent of any property portfolio within the team.

Leadership certainly plays a part in the teams’ success, General Manager Cherie Osbaldiston was awarded Business Leader of the Year. Waikato Real Estate Director Michael Murray couldn’t be prouder of Cherie.

“Cherie has natural leadership ability, she is kind and caring and incredibly efficient, someone who we can always depend on and a great teammate,” said Michael.

Building team culture is a key focus for Waikato Real Estate Head of Growth, Michelle Pearson, who believes you are a product of your environment. Michelle was also an award winner, being named Business Development Manager of the Year.

“If we take care of our team the results will speak for themselves, at Waikato Real Estate we work on team culture every day. Our ability to attract, retain and develop people is our number one competitive advantage”, said Michelle.

About the Awards

The annual LPMA awards have been running for over ten years and entry is open to professionals from across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

Waikato Real Estate have been long standing LPMA members and over the last two years decided to take part in the awards and the results have certainly paid off. For two consecutive years Waikato Real Estate has been the only New Zealand based company to take home awards.

The awards event is usually held as part of the annual conference, however due to the current pandemic the awards were held virtually with the Waikato Real Estate team celebrating with a function at their Hamilton head office.

With 12 award categories in total, the Waikato Real Estate team were thrilled to win 7 of those. In 2021 individual award categories were re-introduced and the team were thrilled to take home 4 out of 5 of these awards.
