2019 Best Design Awards finalists

RiverbankLane Hamilton Waikato Story

The Riverbank Lane, designed by Edwards White Architects, in collaboration with Designwell and Stark Property is a finalist in the Repurposed Spaces category. The space draws inspiration from the historic use and name of the site, the Riverbank Mall which was originally established in 1979.

The transformation of the site celebrates the linkage of Victoria Street to the river, using quality design to enhance the rawness of the building and its natural light. The Riverbank Lane offers an innovative mix of bespoke restaurants, cafes and retail boutiques, with a focus on creating a vibrant environment and dining experience along the laneway. The lane is home to Hamilton favourites Mr Pickles Bar & Eatery, Banh Mi Caphe, Duck Island Ice Cream, Browsers Books and more.

Named in the Office and Workplace Environments category, Panama Square is the third and largest of Stark Property’s co-working brand, Panama. Since opening early in 2019, the five storied building is now fully tenanted with 70 residents spread throughout the building in private offices and open plan shared desk areas, sharing meeting rooms, kitchens and unique common areas. Panama Square also includes an events space and luxury 16 seat boardroom.

Stark Property’s Jaimee Stark worked closely with the team from Designwell to create beautiful, thoughtfully considered spaces throughout the building that foster collaboration and productivity while enhancing some of its original features.

The Best Design Awards will be held at Spark Arena Auckland on 4 October 2019
