CBD Awards – For One Night Only A Transparent Riverside Marquee

HCBA Business Awards

For one night only a transparent marquee on the riverside will provide the foundation for a spectacular night of festivity as the Hamilton Central Business Association (HCBA) hosts the CBD Celebration Awards at Roose Common Park, Grantham Street on 18 November 2020.

The awards, sponsored by Spark Business and supported by The Breeze, will bring together the business community for a memorable evening recognising, rewarding and revering the best businesses located in Hamilton’s central city.

Spark Business are delighted to be sponsoring the awards for the second year. “Local businesses are the backbone of the New Zealand economy and Spark is delighted to be able support their celebration in a year that has been filled with challenges. We are looking forward to seeing the CBD businesses on show, in what promises to be an unforgettable evening.”

The judging of the awards has had a revamp this year with high customer interaction sectors of retail, hospitality, beauty & wellness having an in-person visit and interview from a judging panel, and the professional services sector having the opportunity to create a two minute video to showcase their business.

The Breeze, long time supporter of the CBD Awards, did not hesitate to lend their support again. “We are here for the local businesses. Supporting local is core to our station and we are excited to be a part of recognising what they have achieved over the past year,” says Steve Rowe, Mediaworks General Manager.

Royal Lab event company will make the most of the beautiful riverside ambience in the decoration of the marquee, lit up by SBI Productions and the evening images captured by Moving Media. Catering will be provided by Kerr & Ladbrook, beverages by Hamilton Beer & Wine Company and a special visit from the Duck Island foodtruck to create a perfect evening by the river. A special highlight will be an intimate performance by iconic celebrated singer songwriter Hollie Smith to end the evening.

Connie Chittick, Chairperson of the HCBA, is looking forward to seeing the evening of celebration unfold. “It has been a particularly challenging year and to be able to take some time to recognise the businesses in our central city and see what they have achieved is certainly worthy of celebration”.

“We are here to support our local businesses,” says Vanessa Williams, General Manager HCBA. “They provide the substance to our local economy, the personality to our city and the vibrancy to celebrate and we are delighted to provide a riverside platform to do this.”
