Helping Hamilton Get Back In Action

Loop, Hamilton’s only carshare provider, is offering its vehicles to business and public members for just $5 per hour (inclusive of fuel) from 28th April - 11th May, the expected duration of Alert Level 3.

The news, which has been welcomed by a number of businesses, including restaurants and cafes keen to offer new delivery services, is aimed at easing the burden created by the COVID-19 lockdown and helping the city get back into action as quickly as possible.

Jamie Russell, Loop’s General Manager, said “Quite simply, Hamilton is our home and it’s our duty to help. We’ve seen the headlines, and we know small business is struggling – cafés, restaurants and other businesses are trying to reinvent themselves by offering delivery services and we knew we could help. They’ve got the goods, and we’ve got the transport – we just had to find a way to get the cost down to as close to zero as possible. The $5 an hour is really just designed to cover fuel, so hopefully businesses can get up and running ASAP.”

“This offer is open to everyone. If you’re not a member already, don’t worry, it’s really simple to join and we will fast-track new applications and get people moving as quickly as possible.”

Jamie is keen to point out that despite the reduction in alert level, Loop is still taking the safety of their staff and customers very seriously indeed. He noted that each vehicle in the Loop fleet has been treated with a 30-day Microbe Shield sanitiser, meaning their cars are safe to both drive and share.

Loop cars are placed around Hamilton city centre and are available to book, access and drive simply through an app on your phone.

Charging is by the minute and their standard fee was $15 per hour before this promotion.
